Terms of service

1. Operator and acceptance

ChapterWalks is operated by Leandro Ligetta, ditta individuale, Via dei Mocenigo 7, 20137 Milano, Italy, Partita IVA 14484440962 (“ChapterWalks,” “we,” or “us”).

These Terms are a contract between you and us, not Apple. By downloading, using, or buying through ChapterWalks, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 to create a ChapterWalks account, make a purchase, or submit personal data through the service. If you use ChapterWalks for someone under 16, you must be their parent or legal guardian and you are responsible for supervising that use.

3. What ChapterWalks provides

ChapterWalks provides self-guided audio walking tours for iPhone. After a tour is downloaded, its audio, text, images, and proximity triggering work without a data connection. The in-app map uses live Apple map tiles and needs a connection.

Routes, access conditions, opening times, fees, and the physical environment can change. The app is a cultural guide, not a navigation, emergency, medical, fitness, or professional advice service.

4. Accounts

You may explore previews without a named account. The app creates an anonymous internal user ID when server access is needed. To keep purchases available across devices, you may sign in with Apple, Google, or an email one-time code. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in method secure.

You may delete your account in Settings → Account → Delete account. The Privacy Policy explains what deletion does and which records may remain under law or after removal of their account link.

5. Purchases, refunds, and consumer rights

• Individual tours and All Tours, Forever are non-consumable, one-time in-app purchases. ChapterWalks has no subscription and nothing renews automatically.
• The price and local currency are shown in Apple's purchase sheet before confirmation.
• Apple processes payment. We do not receive your card or bank details.
• Use Apple's Report a Problem service to request a refund or exercise a purchase remedy that Apple administers.
• Restore Purchases can recover eligible purchases associated with your Apple ID.

Nothing in these Terms limits any withdrawal, conformity, refund, warranty, or other consumer right that applicable law does not allow us to exclude. The availability and effect of a withdrawal request for immediately supplied digital content are determined by applicable law and the confirmations given in Apple's purchase process.

6. All Tours, Forever and removed tours

All Tours, Forever unlocks every tour in the catalog and tours added later while ChapterWalks continues to operate the service. “Forever” is the product name; it does not promise that the app, App Store, device platform, or service will exist indefinitely.

If a tour is removed from sale, a downloaded copy may continue to work. While ChapterWalks continues to make the relevant files available, an existing owner may re-download the last available version even when it is no longer sold to new customers.

7. AI-produced content and accuracy

Tour narration is written by an AI drafter and fact-checked by a different AI against published sources, claim by claim. A human reviews the result and chooses the voice. The voice is synthesized, and the app provides the sources cited for factual claims.

We work to make tours accurate and useful, but historical interpretation can be disputed, sources can be wrong, and real places change. We do not guarantee that every statement, route, access detail, or map position is complete or error-free. Please report problems so they can be investigated.

8. Walking safety

You remain responsible for decisions and safety while walking. In particular:

• stay aware of traffic, terrain, weather, other people, and your surroundings;
• follow local laws, signs, closures, opening hours, ticket rules, and site instructions;
• do not enter unsafe, private, closed, or restricted areas because a route or stop appears in the app; and
• choose a route and pace appropriate for your health, mobility, and conditions.

Nothing in this section excludes responsibility that cannot lawfully be excluded, including responsibility for willful misconduct or gross negligence.

9. Your license and acceptable use

We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the app and purchased tour content on Apple-branded products that you own or control, as permitted by Apple's usage rules. Family Sharing or volume purchasing may allow access by other associated accounts where Apple supports it.

You may not redistribute, resell, publicly perform, scrape, extract and republish, use for machine-learning training, reverse engineer, interfere with security or purchase checks, overload the service, or use ChapterWalks unlawfully, except where applicable law expressly permits an activity despite this restriction. Third-party materials remain subject to their own license terms.

10. Support, warranties, and claims

We, not Apple, are responsible for maintenance and support required by these Terms or by law. Contact support@chapterwalks.com. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for ChapterWalks.

If the app fails to conform to an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple may refund the purchase price in accordance with its rules. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation for ChapterWalks. We are responsible for other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs, or expenses attributable to a failure to conform to an applicable warranty.

We, not Apple, are responsible for claims relating to the app or your possession and use of it, including product-liability, legal-compliance, consumer-protection, privacy, and HealthKit-related claims.

11. Availability and liability

ChapterWalks is provided on an “as available” basis. We do not promise uninterrupted access, compatibility with every future device or operating-system version, or that third-party services will always remain available.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we are not responsible for losses caused solely by events outside our reasonable control or by use that materially breaches these Terms. Nothing in these Terms limits mandatory consumer rights or excludes liability that applicable law does not allow us to limit or exclude.

12. Third-party services and intellectual property claims

Your use of ChapterWalks must comply with applicable third-party terms, including Apple Media Services, App Store, map, network, and mobile-data terms. Apple, Supabase, RevenueCat, map providers, venues, and source publishers may change or discontinue their services.

If a third party claims that ChapterWalks or your permitted use infringes intellectual property rights, we—not Apple—are responsible for investigating, defending, settling, and discharging that claim.

13. Apple-specific terms

1. These Terms are between you and us only. We are solely responsible for the app and its content.
2. The license is limited to the scope stated in section 9 and may not conflict with Apple's usage rules.
3. You represent that you are not in a country subject to a United States Government embargo, are not in a country designated as supporting terrorism, and are not listed on a United States Government prohibited or restricted-party list.
4. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms. Once you accept them, Apple may enforce these Terms against you as a third-party beneficiary.

14. Suspension and termination

You may stop using the app and delete your account at any time. We may restrict or suspend server access when reasonably necessary to address fraud, abuse, security threats, unlawful use, or a material breach of these Terms. Mandatory consumer rights and Apple-administered purchase remedies are unaffected.

15. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by Italian law. If you are a consumer, you keep all mandatory protections provided by the law of your country of residence. Courts and dispute procedures are determined by applicable mandatory law; these Terms do not impose an exclusive court that consumer law does not permit.

16. Changes

We may update these Terms for legal, security, operational, or product reasons. If a change materially affects existing rights, we will provide appropriate advance notice. The version in effect when you made a purchase continues to govern rights already acquired to the extent required by law.

17. Contact
